1 c. white syrup, 1.5 c. white sugar, 1 pinch salt. Stir together on medium-high heat until dissolved.
1 lb unsalted peanuts. Pour into mixture, stirring until concoction is amber colored (about 10 minutes, depending on heat).
1/3 stick of butter, 1 tsp baking powder. Stir into peanuts. They will start to bubble.
QUICKLY spoon mixture evenly onto 2 buttered cookie sheets. Working fast, spread peanut brittle as thinly as possible.
Leave to set in cool area for at least an hour.
Break up peanut brittle into bite-sized chunks using knife or hands.
Devour as soon as humanly possible.
